Wednesday, August 5, 2026 - Police have recovered 164 suspected narcotic pellets concealed inside a long-distance passenger bus during an intelligence-led operation at the Busia One-Stop Border Post. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the suspected narcotics hidden inside one of the luggage compartments. However, an accomplice believed to have been travelling on the same bus managed to escape during the operation. The recovered narcotics and the bus have been secured at Busia Police Station as exhibits awaiting forensic analysis. The National Police Service said the successful operation highlights the importance of collaboration among security agencies in disrupting cross-border criminal activities, particularly drug trafficking.
