A New Jersey community is frantically trying to keep alive its beloved "Kissing Tree," a 70ish-foot-tall, sprawling shade-giver dying of a terminal fungus it was diagnosed with last year. The "Kissing Tree" sits in Westwood's Veterans Memorial Park. The state's lead environmental agency told NJ.com it estimates that the Copper Beech was planted nearly 250 years ago, around 1792. It's believed to be one of the state's tallest trees of its kind. For now, community members are trying to extend its life for as long as they can.
