The giant stickers of shame that for 25 years publicly lambasted New York City drivers who failed to follow alternate-side parking rules have returned after more than a decade hiatus. The City Council banned the long-used practice in 2012 after multiple complaints about the sticker adhesive damaging vehicle windows and allegations of violated rights to due process. The new stickers read, "This vehicle violated NYC street cleaning rules. Asked about the stickers' return at an unrelated press conference Tuesday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he "fully supported" the practice, calling it "critically important" that the sanitation department can street-clean.
