Her son, Salvadoran Edwin Giovanni López Cornejo, who had been transferred from the Delaney Hall detention center on August 1, was already dead when he was handed to the doctors.
On the night of Friday, July 31, López Cornejo, 39, called his mother to say he was not feeling well.
López Cornejo had lived in the United States for more than two decades, since he decided to leave El Salvador permanently.
According to the official version from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), issued in a statement on Monday, López Cornejo suffered a “medical emergency” while in ICE custody.
No one should disappear behind the walls of this detention center.
