City councillor Alex Mace pointed to two developments in Worcester that promised new housing but have seen lengthy delays. And land in Sunnyside Road has still not been developed six years after the demolition of a factory. Councillor Mace, co-leader of the Green Party on Worcester City Council, said the delays show housebuilders don’t want to build houses because delays increase their profits. He said: "Since the site on Sunnyside Road was demolished in 2020, house prices have risen by 25 percent. Councillor Mace said: "The 'Abolish Landlords' policy calls for councils to be funded to build homes themselves, and buy homes that are already available.
