New Delhi: In a compliance affidavit filed before the Supreme Court in the NEET 2026 paper leak case, the Central Government has informed the Apex Court that shifting the NEET UG from the current pen-and-paper format to a computer-based test is under active consideration by all stakeholders.
However, the Centre said that the final decision will be adopted after considering, and with the benefit of, the recommendations of the High-Powered Task Force under the chairmanship of Shri Nandan Nilekani.
The Union Government said NEET UG is the only major examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) that is still held in pen-and-paper mode.
The government also outlined a 10-stage security protocol covering question paper setting, printing, transportation, storage, and evaluation.
