Known as the Border City Express, the rail journey is organised by the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company and will arrive at Carlisle Citadel Station after passing through Keighley, Skipton, and Settle. John Moorhouse, deputy chairman of the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company, said: "A steam train is the perfect way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our passenger service. Passengers will travel in heritage carriages pulled by a classic steam locomotive, recreating the experience of rail travel from a bygone era. The Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company has named Riding for the Disabled as its charity of the year for 2026. Tickets for the Border City Express are now available through the Settle–Carlisle Railway Development Company website.
