NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JUNE 25: Juan Soto #22 of the New York Mets reacts during the ninth inning at Citi Field on June 25, 2026 in New York City.
For the New York Mets, questions about chemistry have lingered since last year, which also ended in disappointment, particularly surrounding two of the franchise's biggest stars.
Those questions resurfaced this week after new details emerged about an internal effort to strengthen the relationship between Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor.
“Veteran pitcher Freddy Peralta, whose brief tenure with the New York Mets ended unceremoniously Sunday with his trade to Tampa Bay, called a meeting earlier this season for franchise cornerstones Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor to clear the air,” according to ESPN’s Jorge Castillo .
The pair couldn’t agree on whether or not the sitdown meeting even took place, with Lindor confirming to ESPN that “it was more of a conversation” in Spanish, and Soto denying that such a sitdown ever happened.
