Nearly 15,000 knives and weapons surrendered as 8 amnesty bins set up in Yorkshire

Eight new amnesty bins have recently been installed in South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, including Barnsley, Sheffield, Leeds, and Wakefield, bringing the nationwide total to 45.
"Knife crime is down by 11 per cent since the general election but we will not stop until we meet our commitment of halving knife crime in a decade."
Of the weapons surrendered, 783 were handed in at a mobile amnesty van run by the organisation Fazamnesty, in addition to those deposited in fixed bins.
"There are no winners in knife crime.
The Home Office scheme currently supports bins in London, Greater Manchester, and the West Midlands.
