Usamah Khan and his uncle Zayad Khan were both attacked by males who converged on their Volkswagen Tiguan in a convoy of three vehicles including a Mitsubishi Shogun, which rammed them. Usamah Khan was chased and slashed to the back of the neck with what is believed to have been a machete. Zayad Khan was chased, caught, and hacked at, receiving multiple serious slash wounds that included the severing of his left arm and the partial severing of his left leg. Five men – Rahees Khan, 42, Mohammed Waqqas Khan, 27, Hanzalah Saladin, 27, Ijaz Khan, 38, and Adam Takolia, 29 – are on trial for conspiring to murder Zayad and Usamah Khan. Asked if he was being dishonest with the police, Usamah said: “At the time, yes, because I didn’t want to speak to them.”
