The London African Gospel Choir (LAGC) will perform at Brighton Dome on Thursday, September 18, reimagining Paul Simon’s legendary 1986 album Graceland through a fusion of African and gospel traditions. Their performance will blend South African, Congolese and East African musical styles with Black American gospel. Before launching into their interpretation of Graceland, the choir will open the show with original songs from their debut EP Mercy. Along the way, the choir has performed for 17,000 people at London’s O2 Arena with the Soweto Gospel Choir and collaborated with Idris Elba on his tribute album to Nelson Mandela. LAGC was established to provide a platform for African creative arts in the UK, with music at the forefront.
