The incident occurred in Gerald Road, Worthing, shortly before 9:30am this morning (August 5). Two fire engines were sent to the scene, where crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel. An image from the scene (Image: Eddie Mitchell)A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called at 9.29am to reports of a fire involving a refuse collection vehicle in Gerald Road, Worthing. “Upon arrival, crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no further hot spots. “Crews left the scene at 10.08am.”
