Met Office data shows that southern England has experienced its driest month ever recorded, with the area also recording its hottest July on record.

Parts of the county are also currently under a hosepipe ban, issued by provider South East Water on July 25.

The UK Health Security Agency has also said it is likely that 2026 could see the highest number of heat-associated deaths on record.
