Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of freezing the state’s government account without a court order, describing the action as illegal and a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
You know of the deliberate paralysis of the local government system, the open gun attacks on Osun people and the daily harassment and arrests of Accord members,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke said the state government received a letter from its bank on Wednesday conveying an EFCC directive to freeze the state’s account.
“As if all these were not enough, this morning, we received a letter from our banker, forwarding a letter from the EFCC, instructing the bank to freeze Osun State Government Account.
Adeleke also announced that he had directed the state’s Attorney General to institute legal proceedings against the EFCC.
