Barry Island Primary School impressed Estyn inspectors during a recent visit, who highlighted the school’s focus on wellbeing, effective teaching, and a supportive learning culture. The Estyn report describes the school as “welcoming and inclusive,” crediting a “strong ethos of aspiration and innovation” for helping nearly all pupils make good progress over time. Inspectors highlighted strengths in leadership, support for additional learning needs (ALN), and digital skills development. They noted that the school’s leadership team, staff, and governors work together with a clear vision for pupils’ learning and wellbeing. Most pupils were found to develop strong literacy, numeracy, and digital skills as they progress through the school.
