BRAINERD — There’s a plan in place for Brainerd Public Schools to recoup some of the state funding it would receive for students lost to homeschooling. The goal is to try and bring students who are not in public schools back into the public schools. Tony Skauge represented Fullmind at Monday’s meeting and explained to the board how homeschool students could enroll through Fullmind as Brainerd Public Schools students — allowing the district to collect state funds for those students — while continuing on with their chosen educational pathway. Non-resident students can enroll as Brainerd Public Schools students under Minnesota’s online learning open enrollment provisions, bringing state general education revenue to Brainerd without drawing on local levy dollars.
