The sinkhole appeared on Wednesday, July 15, on Sutton Road and led to the road being closed. The repair of the sinkhole and the road is being carried out by Severn Trent Water, who have now confirmed that 'emergency repairs' have begun. Severn Trent have also confirmed that the sinkhole was created by a 'collapsed sewer'. The latest update from Severn Trent comes after a member of the public spotted a 'leak' at the sinkhole site. A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "We’ve begun emergency repairs on the collapsed sewer in Sutton Road, which has required a road closure to keep our crews and members of the public safe.
