The event attracted a huge turnout of players, volunteers and spectators, with teams representing local businesses and organisations competing throughout the day in aid of the regional cancer charity. Organisers hailed the tournament as a major success, with the £10,500 total representing the amount raised on the day. Special thanks were also paid to Newtown FC for allowing the tournament to be staged at Latham Park. In a statement following the event, organisers said: “An absolutely incredible turnout for the EvaBuild Charity Football Tournament.” There was also sporting success for Darwin Group, who emerged victorious at the end of a competitive day by lifting the tournament trophy.
