Residents urged to have their say on how Powys tackles long-term empty homes
['Josh Price']
County Times | News
Powys County Council is running a consultation on its council tax premium scheme, which currently imposes a 100 per cent premium on properties that have been empty and unfurnished for more than one year.
It follows Welsh Government regulations that allow local authorities to charge up to a 300 per cent premium on long-term empty properties.
"This consultation is an opportunity for people across Powys to share their views and help us shape a fair and effective approach going forward.
Currently, 897 properties in Powys are subject to the premium, representing around 1.3 per cent of all homes in the county.
Residents and stakeholders can take part in the consultation by completing an online survey or by collecting a paper copy from a Powys library.
