Samuel Barr-Ellis, from Llanfechain in Powys and a pupil at Oswestry School Prep in Shropshire, won the title in an online competition for children aged nine to 11, organised by The Junior Lawyers Club. He impressed judges during a live debate on universal healthcare for animals, earning praise for his persuasive arguments, confident delivery, and quick thinking. The Junior Lawyers Club is designed to help young people develop skills in advocacy, critical thinking, and public speaking through engaging discussions on topical issues.
