The Associated Press has called Michigan’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary for Abdul El-Sayed, who defeated U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens in a tight race.
Stevens called El-Sayed to concede the race on Wednesday morning.
El-Sayed is a Detroit public health official who earned the endorsements of progressives like U.S.
El-Sayed had previously lost the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial primary to now-Gov.
Whoever wins will replace Democratic Senator Gary Peters.
