He spent time in Penarth alongside St Augustine’s councillor Ruba Sivagnanam, stopping at a variety of shops including Brød, LilyPad, Fauvette, Griffin Books, Windsor Fruit Stores, and The Windsor Restaurant and Tea Rooms.
Mr Skates said: "On a summer’s day, it’s incredible to see how bustling Penarth is, with people shopping and meeting friends and family.
"It’s only working together with our business community that we can find solutions to the challenges they face.
"It’s absolutely vital that we listen, we don’t lecture, and that we understand what people are telling us.
Ms Sivagnanam said: "I was glad to showcase Penarth’s thriving small business community to Ken on his tour of Wales.
