Work starts on 12 new affordable homes transforming derelict site

The development, on Cross Arthurlie Street, is being built by AS Homes (Scotland) for Barrhead Housing.
Construction has begun on the new site (Image: Supplied)Paul Kelly, managing director of AS Homes, said: "Breaking ground on this site is a significant step toward providing sustainable, affordable homes in an area of real demand.
The development supports Barrhead Housing’s 2030 strategy, which includes a £7.5 million investment in improving housing stock and an ambition to deliver 336 new homes.
Lorna Wilson, chief executive of Barrhead Housing, said: "This development reflects strong partnership working and a shared commitment to delivering affordable homes where they’re needed most.
This project marks another phase in the ongoing partnership between Barrhead Housing and AS Homes.
