NEW 20mph speed limits could be introduced throughout Mossbank and Firth under proposals being put forward by Shetland Islands Council. The reduced limits could be enforced on residential roads including Sandside, Midlea and Leaside, the SIC has said. Maidenfield, Hamarsgarth, Rayburn Road, Smuggabank and Burraness would also be reduced to 20mph under the plans. Shetland Islands Council announced the proposals in a notice to Mossbank Public Hall, which will host a consultation on the changes next week. The SIC has rolled 20mph speed limits across parts of Shetland over the past few years, including throughout Lerwick and Scalloway.
