The family of a nine-year-old girl who died after being found seriously injured in Arbroath have said they are "devastated" at her loss, as her father appeared in court charged with her murder. Minnie Merriman, from West Yorkshire, died in Dundee's Ninewells Hospital on Monday. Christopher Rice, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, has appeared in court charged with her murder. The 35-year-old made no plea during an appearance in private at Forfar Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.
