With many children heading back to school today, emergency officials are offering tips on how to keep kids safe on their way back to class. Bartholomew Consolidated, Flat Rock-Hawcreek, Edinburgh, Seymour, Decatur County, Brown County, Jennings County, Franklin, Center Grove, Bedford North Lawrence, Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson, Monroe County, Shelby Eastern, Southwestern Shelby and South Ripley students all return to school today. You can expect more kids at bus stops, more foot traffic near schools and more buses making their rounds. State police want to remind drivers that it is a violation of Indiana traffic code to pass a school bus with its red lights and stop arm activated. The Seymour Fire Department is reminding drivers to make sure to be aware of students crossing the street and school crossing guards in crosswalks, neighborhoods and around schools.
