Global venture investment hit a record $300 billion in the first quarter of 2026, with AI-related startups vacuuming up roughly $242 billion of that total. Four of the five largest venture capital rounds ever recorded happened during Q1 2026 alone. OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI secured $122 billion, $30 billion, and $20 billion respectively in Q1 2026. Emerging markets led by India, Nigeria, and Egypt are seeing faster AI adoption rates compared to developed markets. Much of that capital is now flowing into the data centers, compute networks, and connectivity layers that both AI and blockchain require.
