Work on a project to refurbish street lights along the A9 through Golspie is set to begin tomorrow (Thursday, August 6), and is expected to last for over five months. The refurbishment will involve replacing 33 steel lighting columns and around 1,100m of underground ducting and cabling along the route. Preparatory ducting work was carried out earlier this year in anticipation of the project. Simon Heron, BEAR Scotland’s north west electrical manager, said: “Due to the age of the street lighting columns in Golspie, a refurbishment scheme has been identified. “The replacement of the lighting columns, cabling and ducting will reduce maintenance needs and enable the safe operation of the street lighting service for years to come.”
