Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie, is offering a variety of two- and three-day workshops in August and October 2026 designed to help students, working professionals, educators, and job seekers gain hands-on experience and professional skills in environmental science and natural resources. “Students, recent graduates, natural resources professionals, municipal workers, and more are all welcome to participate in hands-on, immersive learning here.” Several workshops offer training directly applicable to careers in environmental science, natural resource management, and water quality monitoring. Both workshops offer contact hours for Ohio Environmental Protection Agency-certified drinking water and wastewater operators and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection personnel. Taught by instructors from ODNR and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the workshop introduces undergraduate students and job seekers to fish-sampling methods and equipment commonly used by resource management agencies.
