Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants in Southampton and Fareham will shut down on September 10, 2026, it has been confirmed by Whitbread. Part of its national restructuring plan, it affects 106 Beefeater and 89 Brewers Fayre restaurants across the UK. Among the restaurants due to close is the Oast and Squire Beefeater in Fareham, the Balmoral Inn, also a Beefeater, in Nursling. The plans to transform the former Beefeater were submitted in May and include a refurbishment to the bar, customer areas and toilets. "This means that on Thursday 10 September 2026 your local Beefeater and all other UK Beefeaters will close."
