Devizes Town Council recently advertised the contract for the renovation of the Brickley Lane Play Area, which closed around two years ago when equipment at the facility fell into an unsafe condition.
The town council emphasised that it remains committed to bringing the long empty playground back into use for families.
The town council plans to hold a public consultation on any plans for the play park this autumn, before work begins.
Last year, the town council quashed rumours that it planned to sell the play park when for sale signs appeared at a garage courtyard adjacent to the site.
A statement was released confirming that the town council had no intentions to sell the land and that the for sale signs did not relate to its property.
