One of the more recent discoveries has linked the presence of beneficial bacteria in our gut to our lifespan, and perhaps more importantly, to our “health-span.”
Younger, healthier people tend to have a greater diversity of bacteria with a balance of more good than bad.
But scientists have noticed that the gut bacteria in especially long-lived people tend to look “younger” than expected for their age.
The characteristics of a younger, healthier gut equate to less inflammation, a healthier immune system and better metabolism.
