Kankakee students in 6th through 10th grades will have the option for an abstinence-centered sexual risk avoidance education program provided by the Kankakee County Health Department.
The Kankakee School Board approved the partnership between District 111 and the health department during its July 27 meeting.
The program will be integrated into existing health and physical education courses for grades 6 through 10.
Choosing the Best Life is a research-based, evidence-supported curriculum grounded in abstinence-centered, sexual risk avoidance, and relationship education.
Once per week, the health department will come partner with physical education and health teachers to deliver the curriculum.
