The latest finds follow the discovery of 38 skeletons – some of children – dating back to medieval times from the location of the old Priory Hospital site currently being developed by Wales and West Housing. “It looks like the burials were part of the town cemetery, concentrated to the north of the church and would certainly be medieval in date.” The extent of the latest finds is unknown, although it is understood they were discovered in areas which had not previously been searched. A spokesperson for Wales & West Housing said: “Following the start of construction work at the former Cardigan Hospital site, as expected, more remains were uncovered in areas that had not previously been excavated. “These are being assessed by our archaeologists, who will be able to determine more about the number and age of these remains in due course.
