Fire crews issue e-scooter warning after battery combusts inside home

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Humber Road in Witham on Wednesday 5 August at 9.43am.
"They realised the electric scooter battery had ignited and threw the scooter outside before it was fully alight.
"The incident highlights the importance of safe storage, charging and battery care when it comes to an e-bike or e-scooter.
"If your lithium-ion batteries ignite they will cause an intense, explosive and toxic fire."
The fire service continues to remind the public of the dangers associated with lithium-ion batteries in personal mobility devices.
