FIFA President Gianni Infantino will convene a crisis meeting with senior officials in Morocco’s capital, Rabat, on Wednesday as pressure mounted following the collapse of his proposal to seek private investment in the commercial rights of FIFA competitions, according to Sky Sports.
The meeting comes after Infantino withdrew plans to establish FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a company that would have managed the commercial and operational aspects of FIFA tournaments.
Meanwhile, former FIFA President Sepp Blatter endorsed Norwegian Football Federation President Lise Klaveness as a potential successor, saying it was time for a woman to lead world football’s governing body.
UEFA has said it has lost confidence in Infantino over the FFE proposal and is considering legal action.
Several national football associations, including those of England and Wales, have withdrawn their support for the FIFA president following the controversy.
