Ford reports 10.2% July sales decline as retail strategy shifts

The Detroit automaker points to discontinued models and reduced fleet sales as key reasons for a 10,2% drop in U.S. deliveries.
On the Dash:Ford is prioritizing higher-margin retail sales over fleet volume, even if it results in lower overall sales.
Ford reduced sales of low-margin daily rental fleet vehicles and discontinued the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair in preparation for upcoming product launches.
Additionally, Ford’s electrified vehicle sales fell sharply in July; however, hybrid sales were down 25.1% and EV sales were down 74.9% compared to a year earlier.
On the other hand, analysts expect U.S. new vehicle sales to soften in 2026, despite steady consumer interest in trucks and hybrids.
