An Air India Airbus A320 carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members plunged 300 feet during severe turbulence over the Bay of Bengal on August 4, while travelling from Phuket, Thailand to Delhi. The airline confirmed 13 passengers and four crew members were injured and taken to hospital, with footage from inside the cabin showing a cracked ceiling, torn overhead compartment lids and belongings strewn across the floor.
