From Mazli NoorBank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has held the overnight policy rate (OPR) at 2.75%, following the latest monetary policy committee meeting.
However, while the OPR is an important lever in managing the macro side of the economy, it cannot control every economic parameter.
This is perhaps where the OPR could play a coordinating role in managing inflation.
Chief among these is raising productivity consistently and across the economic spectrum.
The OPR remains the right tool for keeping consumer inflation in check.
