PETALING JAYA : Three of the four new men’s doubles combinations being tested by the Badminton Association of Malaysia have advanced to the second round of the Korea Masters.
The fourth pair, Wan Ariff Wan Junaidi-Kang Khai Xing, were narrowly defeated by compatriots Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong in three games, losing 16-21, 21-13, 20-22 at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan, South Korea.
Also through to the second round are women’s doubles pair Cheng Su Hui-Chong Jie Yu, who defeated top Vietnamese duo Pham Thi Dieu-Pham Thi Khanh 21-16, 20-22, 23-21.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s teenage women’s doubles pair Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan were knocked out by much lower-ranked home pair Moon In Seo-Park Seul, losing 21-19, 18-21, 17-21 in a 65-minute match.
