Newly paired Chen Tang Jie-Clarissa San defeated compatriots Low Han Chen-Chan Wen Tse 21-19, 21-18 in 35 minutes at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan, South Korea. Malaysia’s young mixed-doubles pair Loo Bing Kun-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan caused a surprise by beating the higher-ranked Indian duo Dhruv Rawat-K Maneesha 18-21, 21-14, 21-17 in 50 minutes. The world No 72 player defeated Singapore’s 29th-ranked Jason Teh 21-13, 21-19 to book a second-round spot, where he will take on China’s 49th-ranked Dong Tian Yao.
