Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is planning to freeze the state government’s bank accounts ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The governor maintained that there was no legal basis for such an action, insisting that the EFCC lacked the constitutional authority to freeze the accounts of a state government. “We Have Just Paid Another Round of Palliative to Workers and Pensioners in Osun State,” the governor wrote. ADVERTISEMENTHe added, “We will continue to put the welfare of our civil servants and pensioners at the heart of governance because a motivated workforce remains the foundation of sustainable development and shared prosperity in Osun State.” The EFCC had yet to respond to the governor’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
