“I just want to figure out what kind of play we’re in…to figure out whether it’s a comedy or a tragedy.” So our main protagonist Michel laments after one of many in a series of the play’s big twists and turns. “It’s not so easy to tell these days,” replies Paul, his best friend of 20 years. The two have been having an affair for the past six months and are debating whether or not to tell their spouses. Michel, meanwhile, staunchly believes they should not, arguing that it would be selfish to tell the truth and ruminating on the meaning of honesty.
