The official press conference announcing "Sri Lanka AI Week 2026" was successfully held today (05), marking a major national initiative aimed at accelerating Sri Lanka’s digital economic transformation and positioning the country as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy, GovTech Sri Lanka, and SLT-MOBITEL, the flagship event is scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 4, 2026. During the press conference, the Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eranga Weeraratne, officially launched the "Sri Lanka AI Week 2026" website. He emphasized that Sri Lanka must transition from being a passive consumer of global technology to an active producer of AI solutions. Building on the success of the inaugural National AI Exhibition and Summit held in 2025, this year's event has been significantly expanded with the participation of regional and global partners.
