In was in the early 1990s that Matey decided to quit interstate driving, working for his brother and moved to Sydney. “My dad drove for Uncle Noel doing interstate for a long number of years – and Uncle Noel had some nice trucks. Dad drove it for three or four years, doing interstate express from Melbourne to Sydney, with a pantech on the back.” That truck will now be transported down to Cobram by one of Brad’s good friends, so it can carry his coffin at his final send-off.
