According to a new report from the Japanese publication Magazine X, an open-roof model is currently in development alongside the standard coupe. Beyond the targa configuration, the report suggests a more extreme tuned version of the GR GT is also in the works. Japanese sources indicate the core vehicle will boast an all-aluminum frame paired with a front-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a rear transaxle housing a hybrid electric motor. The production strategy for the GR GT is expected to mirror the extreme exclusivity of the legendary Lexus LFA. Rumors suggest Toyota plans to manufacture only around 500 units globally and keep the price tag under the 30 million yen mark.
