Edited Release08/5/26Last month’s Donation Drive-Thru event at the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp was a huge success. According to statistics released by the City of Iowa City, over 12,900 pounds of goods were donated or recycled over a span of four hours. That included:3,993 pounds of furniture2,970 pounds of clothing, shoes, linens2,275 pounds of books1,230 pounds of mattresses and box springs980 pounds of household and kitchen items433 pounds of art, craft, and school supplies415 pounds of food and toiletry items346 pounds of appliances84 pounds of batteriesPast-use batteries, light bulbs, books, mattresses, and box springs were recycled via the City of Iowa City recycling programs. Art, craft, and school supply donations were accepted for the Art & Craft Supplies Pop-up Events happening in August.
