The run for Governor of Michigan to succeed term-limited Gretchen Whitmer saw a contender from both parties secure their spots on Tuesday, according to unofficial results. Republican nominee John James and Democratic nominee Jocelyn Benson each picked up primary victories on Tuesday. They’ll face off in the November general election. James, a two-time U.S. senate nominee, beat Perry Johnson in the midterm election. Benson, the two-term Michigan Secretary of State, defeated Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson for the right to represent the Democrats in November.
