The new code of practice for services, public functions and associations takes effect today (5 August), and continues to attract challenges. “When we consulted on the updates to our services code of practice in 2024 and 2025, we heard the views of over 50,000 respondents, including duty-bearers. GLP’s trans rights lead Jess O’Thomson said: “It’s difficult to believe just how far backwards our government has gone on trans human rights. “The updated code also strengthens guidance across all protected characteristics, including protections for disabled people and updated advice on pregnancy and maternity discrimination. A code of practice for employers is expected from the EHRC in due course.
