Most employers are now confident about implementing new trade union rules due to come into force under the Employment Rights Act 2025, according to research commissioned by Acas, which said it was encouraged by the findings. They will also introduce a right to time off for trade union equality representatives, a duty on employers to inform workers of their right to join a trade union, and a right for trade unions to access workplaces to speak to workers. Baroness Maggie Jones, Acas chair, said: “It is encouraging that most employers are confident about adapting to new trade union rules that are coming in October, but our poll reveals that 1 in 5 are not. “When trade unions and employers work together, they can help build trust, prevent disputes and contribute to healthy productive workplaces. In July, Acas consulted on a revised code of practice on time off for trade union duties and activities.
